Dog-specific ear cleaning solution from a shop or clinic. Use clean old T-shirts, makeup removal pads, gauze, or cotton balls as soft, non-abrasive wipes.
Keep your dog motionless when washing by gently holding them. In a tiny space like a restroom, you may use your arms or body to quiet them.
Gentle lift and hold your dog's ear flap to examine the ear canal. For cleaning the correct region and adding cleaning solution, this is crucial.
Or, pour the fluid directly into the ear canal without touching the container. Put a cotton ball in the ear soaked in the solution.
Next, massage the base of the ear for 30 seconds with the solution or a cotton ball. So, the solution melts wax and dirt better. A working cleaner makes a mushy sound.
Allow your dog to shake his head. This is good as it helps loosen and bring debris to the surface of the ear canal.
After massaging, carefully clean the ear canal with gauze or cotton. Put your finger in gauze, wipe it in a circle, then draw it out to remove dirt.
Sometimes, you need to do steps 4-7 again, especially if there’s a lot of dirt.
After the canal is clean, use a damp cotton ball or wipe with ear wash to clean the inside of the ear flap.
Make sure you didn’t leave any cotton or gauze inside the ear. Leftover material can be uncomfortable or cause infections.
If your vet has given you ear medications for your dog, apply them as instructed.
